The Pigeon Pair Saves The Marriage by Janice Gold Chapter 30

Chapter 30

The elevator reached the second floor, and Gideon walked in, followed by two fashionably dressed foreign women

Jeanne’s eyes lit up, thinking, Gideon is in the lab today too!‘

However, her attention was mostly captured by the foreign women

Jeanne glanced at them curiously

She pondered, I didn’t see these two the last time I was at the lab

Gideon was surprised, wondering, How did these two little ones find their way here?’

He was about to speak when the chestnuthaired foreign girl suddenly covered her mouth, laughed, and spoke in Veridianian. Oh, that little girl looks so funny!”

The blonde girl who was with her also laughed

Having lived abroad for four years, Jeanne understood what they said but thought they were just joking and didn’t take it to heart

Seeing no reaction from Ruben and Jeanne and assuming they didn’t understand her, the blonde girl became more unrestrained

She started mocking Jeanne’s dress, saying, My goodness, she looks like a jellyfish, how silly!”

Ruben then glanced at them coldly, his brow furrowing in displeasure

He thought angrily, These two have no manners!‘

Gideon also frowned, intending to reprimand them, but Jeanne was much quicker

Pinching her dress, Jeanne retorted in Veridianian, What’s wrong with looking like a jellyfish? Jellyfish can be cute, too.”

The chestnuthaired girl looked at her in slight surprise, thinking, Such a young child. understands Veridianian? But the next second, she started mocking Jeanne’s pronunciation, bizarrely switching languages to ridicule her.

She spoke in Xyronian, and the blonde girl joined in, laughing even more exaggeratedly, exuding a sense of superiority

Upon hearing Xyronian, Jeanne felt a rush of familiarity

She pondered, I already started speaking Xyronian with the people in Mommy’s lab since I began learning to speak. Their Xyronian is still far from good enough.”‘

Jeanne turned around and said, Hello there. Your Xyronian doesn’t sound quite natural

You made about three grammatical errors in that sentence. You don’t really need to switch languages while talking because even if you speak Xyronian, I can still understand you.”

The expressions of the two foreign women then turned unsightly upon hearing her

Then, the elevator doors opened after a ding

In their haste, they didn’t even bother to see which floor it was on and quickly fled

Chapter 30

Gideon chuckled, admiration unconsciously showing in his eyes. He bent down and asked, You’re so impressive. What other languages do you know?”

Ruben is better than me, but he doesn’t like to talk,Jeanne boasted, holding Ruben’s hand proudly. I’ve seen Ruben write articles in over 10 different languages

Jeanne could only recognize four or five languages. The rest she understood through translation

Gideon, increasingly impressed by them, smiled, Is that so? You’re so talented, Ruben. Maybe you could try speaking sometimes. That way, you can help Jeanne deal with those who bully her.”

Ruben pushed up his large blackframed glasses on his nose, ignoring him

He thought, I don’t need to speak to help Jeanne deal with those people.’

Ruben had caught a glimpse of the hotel room card tucked behind the woman’s transparent phone case in her hand. It belonged to a nearby hotel, and he planned to take action once he reached the office

I can protect Ruben too,Jeanne declared, spreading her arms in front of Ruben protectively. Gideon, don’t pressure Ruben. He’s doing very well now.”

Gideon, being schooled by a fouryearold girl, instinctively touched his nose and felt awkward

He pondered sarcastically, This quirky temperament must be inherited from Edith‘

Ruben remained silent, but his heart felt warm.

If Gideon weren’t there, he might have tried to say something

Another ding rang out, and the elevator doors opened again as they reached the lab’s top floor, where the artifact restoration team’s office was

Ruben, not wanting to waste time or have excessive contact with Gideon, quickly led Jeanne

At that moment, Edith had just finished her report and was dealing with some emails from the headquarters

Mommy!Jeanne burst into the room, hopping excitedly to Edith

Surprised and delighted, Edith hugged Jeanne, asking, Why are you guys here?”

Jeanne briefly explained what had happened, then started talking about her kindergarten day

Afterward, she pulled out two drawings from her backpack

One was a watercolor scribble, and the other was a minimalist gray depiction of a family portrait

Jeanne pointed out, saying, I drew this one, and Ruben drew this. Our teacher praised us, saying we did a great job.”/

That’s wonderful. I’ll reward you with cupcakes when we get home!Edith kissed Jeanne before looking at the drawings

Jeanne’s family portrait was cheerful and vibrant, while Ruben’s had strong, defined lines

Chapter 30

As they chatted, Ruben sat on the sofa, pulled out his laptop, and began hacking into the hotel’s surveillance system

Ruben quickly located the room of the two foreign girls from earlier

The hotel used smart locks, and he easily hacked into them and changed the password, rendering their room cards useless. They would have to call a locksmith to open the door forcibly

Additionally, Ruben bombarded the women with phone calls, using a virtual IP

He thought angrily, This is what you get for bullying my sister!‘

After finishing his task, Ruben was startled by someone suddenly appearing behind him

Gideon looked at the remaining code on the computer screen and asked curiously, What are you doing?”

Then, with a loud snap, Ruben abruptly closed his laptop

Ruben glared at Gideon disapprovingly and thought, How dare you invade my privacy?‘

As if reading Ruben’s mind, Gideon immediately guessed the meaning behind his expression

I’ve been here for a while. You were so engrossed in your computer that you didn’t notice me, Gideon explained, spreading his hands in explanation

Gideon had come to review Edith’s work report and to discuss her next day’s tasks

Seeing Ruben sitting in a corner, seemingly isolated and intensely typing, Gideon couldn’t resist coming over to take a look

Gideon pondered, Is a fouryearold usually focused on playing games?‘

Only when he approached did he realize Ruben wasn’t playing games but was working on something more sophisticated. Unfortunately, the computer screen was too dark for Gideon to see clearly

Ruben pressed his lips together tightly, and after a moment, he finally said, Back off!”

Gideon was left speechless and baffled. He then pondered, Why do those words feel so familiar? It seems like I’ve seen them often somewhere…

Ruben means he wants you to go away, not to be so close to him. He doesn’t like it,Jeanne ran over to explain..

Ruben nodded in agreement but was still on guard

Gideon couldn’t understand why Ruben harbored such hostility toward him, but he saw no point in getting upset with a child

He straightened up and cleared his throat, saying, Let’s call it a day.”

This statement was directed at Edith

Edith sighed in relief and pondered, Finally free!‘

She grabbed her bag and swiftly led Ruben and Jeanne toward the exit, not wanting to linger even for a moment

Chapter 30

I’ll give you a ride. It’s on my way,” Gideon followed behind and said casually

Edith thought, The Peterson Villa and the villa I live in are in two different directions. Wha on my wayis he talking about?‘

Just as Edith was about to comment on his unnecessary kindness sarcastically, a realization struck her, and she pondered, If Gideon is going to see Danika, it will indeed be on the way

Her face remained stern, feeling somewhat irritated, but she couldn’t pinpoint why she felt this way

Perhaps it was because Gideon had never been this nice to her before

She then pondered, A free ride anyway! Might as well consider it as a luck to get a ride from a handsome, wealthy driver

With her mind made up, Edith, Ruben, and Jeanne got into the car. Well, we’ll have to trouble you then, Mr. Peterson.”

Once they got into the car, Jeanne clambered onto the back of the driver’s seat

She leaned close to Gideon and asked in a sweet, childlike voice, Gideon, it’s not really on your way, but you just want to take Mommy home, isn’t it?
