Chapter 301
The midday sun hung high in the sky when Selina finally stirred, her body aching yet oddly refreshed. She knew all too well the events of the previous night as she glanced towards Ryan, who sat at the edge of
the bed.
“Hungry?” Ryan asked quickly, “Need a bite to eat? I got you a new dress.”
With an impassive face, Selina flung off the covers and stepped barefoot onto the floor, slipping into the new dress with a natural grace.
“It was a mistake, an accident,” she stated coldly, “I was drunk and mistook you for someone else. You know who my heart truly belongs to, Ryan.”
He replied with guilt, “I’m sorry. I’ll take responsibility.”
He had lost control.
“I don’t need you to take responsibility. Let’s keep this between us,” she said, her face an icy mask.
Ryan felt a deeper sense of loss, mixed with even more guilt.
“You promised to protect me forever, didn’t you, Ryan?”
“Yes, always.”
“Then you’ll help me fulfill my wish, won’t you?” Her tone softened. Despite her drunken haze, she knew exactly who she had been with last night. She had always known it was Ryan beside her.
A bone was the best way to tie down a dog, and her origins were a ticking time bomb. She needed to hold more cards in her hand. And who better to be her loyal dog than Ryan?
Ryan was a guy from a respectable family, easy to deal with, and rather good between the sheets.
A reward from her made him ecstatic and he was willing to die for her.
After hearing her request, Ryan swore, “I’ll do anything for you, even walk through fire or climb mountains Selina took his hand and said, “I don’t need you to face such dangers, Ryan. I need a favor. I have a friend who wants to do a paternity test, but it can’t be done here in Bayridge City.”
The medical industry in Bayridge City was entangled with the Hamilton family, and she feared Sanford
Hamilton would find out.
“I need you to help her get the test done discreetly.”
“No problem. I’ll arrange it with a friend in the Capital,” Ryan assured her. Handsome and well–connected, it was a mystery why he was so smitten with Selina, having refused advantageous matches with high society ladies from the Capital for her sake.
“Thank you. I’ll get you the stuff in a couple of days.”
Deep down, Selina harbored a glimmer of hope that perhaps Derrick had been deceived by Angela.
She needed a paternity test with Magnolia to confirm the truth once and for all.
“There’s no need for formalities between us. Trust me, last night will stay our secret,” Ryan promised again and again.

Chapter 301
“Alright, I should get going,” Selina said. Then, as she turned to leave, her expression chilled, and she walked out the hotel room door.
Ryan remained seated on the bed for a long time, his emotions swinging between elation and despair. He was obsessed with the memories of the night before and couldn’t resist pulling up photos on his phone, a record of their intimate moments.
This might be the only time in his life with Selina.
But it wasn’t her first time.
He suspected that she had given her first to Howard long ago, and their close relationship inevitably led to a fiery passion.
That bastard Howard, who played with fire and then abandoned her, had failed to appreciate Selina, a woman of such quality.
Ryan silently vowed to fulfill Selina’s desires, whatever they might be.
After leaving the hotel, Selina hailed a cab back home.
Derrick and Magnolia were out socializing, and the servants were diligently cleaning the house.
She tiptoed to the master bedroom door, intending to sneak in and grab a few strands of Magnolia’s hair.
But the room had already been cleaned by the staff, spotless and dust–free.
