“What do you mean that she sent this?” I asked, shaking my head at Ashley as she entered the office.
She stood in front of me, biting her bottom lip s she waited for me to read the paper. Little did she know was that this wasn’t how I wanted things to go.
“You don’t seem very happy? I thought that you wanted this divorce?” She asked, and I
scoffed.
“I want this divorce but she is not to be the one to fucking file it!” I snapped, and she looked down at her feet, avoiding my eyes. “When the fuck did she send it?”
“It just arrived. She wasn’t the one who delivered it though. It was a man, he claims that he is her lawyer.” She said, and I frowned, shaking my head in question as I tried to understand whether or not I understood her properly.
“He?” I asked, and she nodded. “Her lawyer is a woman. I am the one fucking paying for her salary…”
“He clearly came and said that he was her lawyer. He waited for a while but then he chose to leave.” She said, and I frowned in confusion, trying to process what she was saying. I read through the paper, time and time, and I could tell that this man,
whoever he was, wasn’t as naïve as the other lawyers. Katerina chose him well this man well, and she was doing this, whatever this was, on purpose.
“Why are you upset? I mean, I understand that you didn’t file it, but shouldn’t you be happy?” Ashley asked, shaking her head in question. “It almost seems as if you didn’t want to divorce in the first place?”
“Ashley, get the hell out of my sight.” I said, and she frowned.
“I am sorry, what?” She asked, shaking her head in question.
“I said a fucking word, get the hell out of my sight, Ashley.” I said, this time, raising my voice a bit. Her hands shook and she clenched but then unclenched them, allowing herself
to take a deep breath before she turned to leave.
“You know, I often find myself wondering why I stick around with your fucking arrogance.”

She said, taking a step back. She walked out of the room without bothering to wait for me to say a word. I scoffed and shook my head before turning to my landline, calling my lawyer and accountant. The fact that Katerina managed to get this past them without them noticing it was something that I didn’t like.
“To my office, NOW!”
I walked inside the house, frowning when I saw Katerina casually sitting in the living room, drinking tea.
She smiled as she saw me walking inside, and I threw the file in front of her, glaring at the woman. The kids were not home, and I knew that raising my voice wouldn’t be an issue for me to be dealing with.
“What the fucking hell do you think that you’re doing?” I asked, glaring at the woman. “WHAT THE FUCK DOES IT MEAN FOR YOU TO SEND ME DIVORCE PAPERS FOR ME TO
SIGN?”
“You wanted this divorce. All I did was speed the process up. I didn’t want anyone to be dealing with the fuss of having to wait, and considering the fact that you already have your mistress and that you are already dating the woman, I doubt that my presence would have made any sense.” She said, looking me dead in the eye. “And I am starting to doubt the idea of you even caring about whether or not I am in your life at this point…”
“You do not get to decide to end this marriage, do you fucking understand me? We have kids, and we have things to discuss…”
“Oh? Really? Might I ask who gets to decide? Because as far as I can tell, it was you who decided to get this divorce in the first place. The mistress entering our lives should have been…”
“You have agreed on me having the mistress, in case you seem to have forgotten. You claimed that you didn’t mind me being with someone else to tend to my sexual needs…”
“After I almost lost our children, Nikolay.” She said, stopping me. “I let you be with whoever it is that you wanted after I almost lost them. Now, you are going to lose me, and I am going to suggest us doing this in a mutual agreement, without a war included. I did not ask for compensations nor did I ask for what any woman in my shoes would have in my place. I am allowing you to live in your space with your woman, but I am not going to let my kids

grow with a stranger who I know for fact does not know how to handle a child.”
“You are not going to take the children away from me, and considering that you are aiming for this divorce, I am going to make sure that you fucking regret even considering to think about it. For now, I am going to allow you the moment of pleasure when it comes to it.” I said, making her take a deep breath. “The two of us will meet in court, and I give you my word, I am going to make you regret considering filing something like this against me.”
“Was I supposed to wait for you to be the one to file it? Because you would have done so anyway.” She said, and I scoffed.
“I said what I had to say.” I said, looking her dead in the eye. “And I promise you, you and that fucking lawyer that you had the audacity to hire are going to be fighting to find one spec of dignity to hold onto. I am going to be sure that it happens.”
I looked at the living room for a moment before smirking. “Considering that you want a divorce, and that YOU chose to go through this way. Leave MY house,”
“The house is the place my children are staying in, and if you think that kicking me out is going to stop me, it is not.” She said, and I smirked.
“What are you depending on? The fact that you are nursing them right now? The second the judges know that you won’t be able to give them the life…”
“I will be able to give them a better one,” she said, stopping me. “However, I am going to wait for them to come back from their daycare before we all leave. You can have the
house…”
“You will be taking the children for no more than a day. Prepare them for what is to come, and I am going to be sure that I make you understand what it is to challenge me, Katerina.” I said, stopping her. “Until then, I am going to suggest that you start rethinking your motives. Because I am sure that you are misguided…”
