Chapter 88
Nikolay:
“When is mama coming, daddy?” Andrew asked, and I sighed, not knowing how to answer him.
“Can we call mama, daddy?” Bianca asked, and I looked away from her.
The last thing that I needed or wanted was for them to be looking for Katerina as early.
“Mom is not going to come here, children.” I said, sitting on the edge of the bed beside the kids. It was supposed to be their bedtime, and having taken a shower, both of them have been told their story and I wanted to get Bianca in her bed, but both kids were refusing to go to bed. They seemed to just want to ask about her, and I knew that, by now, they were going to have to know.
“Why?” Andrew asked, frowning at my statement.
“Your mom going to be staying in her home, and when you want, you can see her during the weekend. You just have to arrange things with her as she is no longer living in the same house.” I said, and Bianca’s eyes welled up with tears.
“Did mama leave us?” She asked, and I shook my head. I didn’t want them to think that she left them, but I also didn’t want them to grow too attached to the idea of her being with them. I wanted them to know that they were going to be living with me and that she was the ‘weekend‘ home.
“Your mom and I are not going to be living together anymore. You are going to be living with me and your Auntie Ashley.”
“I don’t want to!” Bianca said, snapping at me. I looked at my children for a moment, seeing their anger in their eyes. “I want to see mama. I don’t want to be with her.”
“I want to go home.” Andrew said, making my heart ache. It was something that I didn’t expect from them. “We want to go to mama. She said that she would see us, we didn’t see her!”

going to need to settle in her house and when she does, she is going to see you.” I said, and saw my daughter looking away from me as tears fell from her eyes. “I promise you that you are going to see her very soon. Please, trust me that you will be seeing her soon.”
I leaned in to kiss my daughter, but she covered herself with the blanket, refusing to allow me to do so. I looked at Andrew but he looked away from me. I shook my head and got up from bed toward the door. Their maids who were by the door walked inside to take care of the kids.
Ashley looked at me and shook her head in question, knowing that something was bothering me. I looked away from her, heading toward the living room where the divorce papers that Katerina had her lawyer sending to me.
The fact that she dared to have it sent told me that things were not going to weaken her. She was willing to fight back at me, and I knew that I was going to have to deal with things.
“What is bothering you about the divorce dates, Nikolay? You are refusing to sign the papers and you are refusing to respond to the divorce dates. You need to know that things are not going to be solved.” Ashley said, and I looked down at the paper for a moment.
“Do you understand that she is going to end up fighting us her own way, and that is not something that I want to allow her to do. She has to be weak and she has to give in, not start this fight being as strong as she is.” I said, looking at Ashley. She raised an eyebrow and scoffed as she crossed her arms over her
chest.
“They did offer a mutual divorce. It is you who chose against it. You can’t really expect her to be waiting for one…

“I am not expecting her to be the one to file it. She is asking for a mutual divorce under the condition that the kids stay at her place. This is NOT something that I am going to allow. She can rot in hell before that happens, and trust me when I say, I am going to be sure that it happens.” I said, stopping Ashely whose chest rose and fell as she took heavy breaths.

“Who’s fucking side are you on?” I asked, stopping her.
“The side of the damn man that is gave me false hope about being my husband. Something that I can tell now is a dream that I am going to have to ignore.” She said, taking a step back. She looked me in the eye, her anger evident in her expression before she took a deep breath. “I suggest that you really make up your mind, Nikolay.”
“What does that mean?” I asked, getting up from my chair. She took a step back, momentarily flinching before she straightened as she held her grounds.. She clenched and unclenched her fists, and I could see her hands shaking despite her fighting to control them. This was a habit that she had whenever she felt like she was cornered or whenever she felt weaker than she wanted to

“It means that I am not your toy. I am not going to allow you to think that you can play me as you please, and I most definitely will NOT allow you to double cross me the way that you are for her sake.” She said, looking me dead in the eye. “Make your decision, and I suggest that you do it fast. Otherwise, you can show yourself out of my house with the kids…”
“Now, now.” I said, taking a step toward her. Her eyes met mine as I stopped her, and I chuckled, mocking her, as I waited for what she was going to say. The woman wasn’t really choosing to play that card, was she?
“Do you really think that ANYTHING that you are living would be in your life if it weren’t for me?” She flinched at my question, and I smirked, knowing that I got my answer. “If you don’t want to be in my life, there is the door. I can allow you your clothes. You know, I wouldn’t want you walking around without any pants, and the jewels that you are wearing are not the most expensive. The most you would get out of them is a few hundred dollars to secure you a piece of bread for the next few…”
She slapped me, stopping me as tears welled up in her eyes.
“You’re a fucking dick.” She said, and I took a step back.

“Then I suggest that you make your choices wisely.” I said, turning to my desk. “If you don’t have anything to add, I have work to do. And I think that it is time for you to go and doll up. As far as I know, you have a women’s campaign to run tomorrow. You know, one that you are going to be going to while being funded with MY money…”
