“Mikayla!”
Jerome kicked the fat man away and supported her. “Are you okay?”
His urgent voice rang in her ears. She didn’t know whether it was because of alcohol or pain, but she soon felt dizzy and couldn’t open her eyes.

When Mikayla woke up, she found herself lying in a ward. Surrounded by white walls, she had an IV drip attached to her arm.
Why was she in the hospital?
Suddenly, she recalled the incident that happened in the bar. The fat man wanted to hit Jerome, but she pushed him away and was injured.
“You’re finally awake.”
Jerome’s low voice brought Mikayla back from her thoughts.
She looked up and noticed he was sitting by the bed. He probably hadn’t rested ast he furrowed and appeared haggard.
He had always paid attention to his appearance. But now, he casually placed his coat. on the chair and rolled up his cuffs slightly, revealing his strong wrists.
“Are you feeling uncomfortable somewhere?” Jerome asked as he sat up.
Mikayla moved her body. Aside from the slight pain in her shoulder and a headache,
she was fine.
“I’m fine. Where is Celeste? Has she gone home?” she asked hoarsely.
He looked at her indifferently and asked instead, “Why did you do that?
Fortunately, that man had drunk too much and was injured, so he didn’t use much
force. Otherwise, your shoulder would have broken.”

Mikayla felt regretful and fearful when she recalled it, along with a bit of sadness.
She had fallen too deeply in love with Jerome in her previous life. Even if she was in her second life, she still couldn’t change her habits.
When she saw someone doing something horrific to Jerome, she instinctively reacted to protect him.
“Don’t worry. I won’t do it next time,” Mikayla answered grimly.
He felt uneasy when he noticed her expression.
He frowned and said unnaturally, “I admit I’ve neglected you. If you want a divorce. because you think I don’t care about you, let’s put that aside for now. We can spend some time together and try to get along. I’ll try to meet your needs.
Mikayla knew Jerome probably felt guilty because she had saved him. He was used to being aloof. It was rare for him to be so humble.
In the past, she would have agreed to his suggestion without hesitation. But now,
she had no interest in it.
Although she loved him for eight years and couldn’t change some habits, she didn’t have the energy to love him anymore.
“No need,” Mikayla said indifferently, “Let’s divorce according to the previously agreed time. You don’t need to change.”
Jerome endured his annoyance and took another step back. “If you’re unsatisfied, I can make up for our fifth anniversary. You can do whatever you want.”
She seemed to have changed after waking up from her suicide attempt. She had tried to jump off the building because he didn’t celebrate the fifth anniversary with
her.
Thus, he felt that it was the crux. It was at least one of the reasons that triggered
her to divorce.
Since he had discovered the cause, he could try to solve it.
