Mikayla was annoyed by Jerome’s behavior. Without further argument, she plugged in the phone line and 

dialed the reception number. 

“Is there any room available? I’d like to book a new one.” 

If Jerome wanted to stay in her room, she would let him be. She could get a new room for herself. 

Unfortunately, the receptionist informed her, “Sorry, Madam. Our rooms are fully booked.” 

Mikayla was already irritated when her sleep was interrupted. She was even furious when she realized 

there was no more room. She scolded, “How could you allow a man to enter my room without my permission? Get me a new room, or I’ll complain!” 

“I’m sorry, Madam. The guest claimed to be your husband. He said it was too late and didn’t want to wake. you. So, we-” 

She didn’t want to hear the explanation anymore and hung up. Looking at Jerome, who was still sitting by 

the bed with an unreadable expression, she knew she couldn’t get him to leave. 

“There’s an extra quilt in the closet. Sleep on the floor.” 

After speaking impatiently, Mikayla turned her back on Jerome and went back to sleep. 

He didn’t comment on her actions as he glanced at her messy hair and thin figure on the bed. 

He then found her ointment on the table and gently applied it to her palm without giving her a chance to 

dodge. 

It was probably chilly at night, so Jerome’s hands were colder than usual. Mikayla felt a little uncomfortable when he touched her. 

She tried to withdraw her hand, but he held it firmly. “Don’t move.

Jerome couldn’t control his sullenness. “I know you’re still unhappy about what happened that night. Even if you’re innocent in Kylie’s medicine–switching, you should cooperate with the investigation. You can’t solve the problem if you refuse to communicate.” 

It was hard for her to believe he even thought about finding the truth. But she didn’t care about it. 

“You woke me at midnight and insisted on staying here despite my wishes. How can you expect me to 

communicate with you?” 

Mikayla said coldly, “I would have beaten you out long ago if I could!” 

Sensing her coldness and impatience, Jerome could no longer bear her contempt. “You don’t need to.” 

He picked up his small briefcase and walked out of the room. Seeing that, Mikayla grabbed the phone and called the reception. “Hello, please don’t open my door for anyone without my permission–not even for my husband!” 

After informing the receptionist, she went back to sleep in relief. The next day, Eduard knocked on her door for breakfast.
