Chapter 257 

Eduard sounded sad over the phone. “Todd has passed away.” 

“What?” Mikayla was taken aback, 

Todd seemed to be fine yesterday. He was energetic and lively. How could he pass away so suddenly? 

“The doctor said these past few days might’ve been his last moments of lucidity before death,” Eduard 

said in a low voice. 

A longtime friend had passed away. He must be feeling extremely heartbroken. 

Mikayla felt heavy–hearted as well. Just yesterday, Todd was joking with her about how blessed she was. And today, he was no longer present with us. 

After comforting Eduard, Mikayla returned to Wanda. 

“Grandma, I’m sorry, but I can’t stay here tonight. A long time friend of my Grandpa passed away. I’m worried about him, so I need to go back to check on him,” she said. 

“Why are you apologizing? It’s normal for you to be by his side in such a situation. I’ll ask Jerome to take you there,” Wanda replied. 

With that said, she called a maid to inform Jerome. 

Mikayla stopped her. “Grandma, it’s fine. Jerome is busy enough. I can take a cab.” 

“Absolutely not. Let Jerome take you, so he can visit Mr. Davidson Senior as well,” Wanda said. 

It was an hour’s drive from the Miller’s Manor to Eduard’s house. 

Jerome had a lot of work to do, and Zachary was also there. 

Mikayla didn’t want to bother him. So she insisted, “Grandma, I can easily book a cab. There’s no need for Jerome to send me there.” 

Wanda knew that Mikayla wasn’t in a romantic mood at the moment. 

She didn’t insist anymore and compromised. “Then at least let our driver take you home. It’d take you some time to book a cab.” 

Mikayla nodded in agreement. 

The sky started to darken after a half an hour drive. 

The car left the bustling city and entered a relatively quiet suburb. 

Mikayla was resting. 

Suddenly, there was a loud bang from the car, which startled her and woke her up.

Mikayla wanted to take a look at the situation as well. 

As soon as she opened the door, someone covered her mouth and nose. 

She panicked and struggled. But the other partly obviously came prepared. 

Not only was their grip strong, but they also held her limbs tightly. 

There seemed to be some kind of drug on the towel covering her mouth. Mikayla felt her head throbbing 

in pain. 

Soon, she began to lose consciousness. 

When she opened her eyes, she found herself lying on the ground. Her limbs were tied up, and she was 

unable to move at all. 

She started to remember what happened before she lost consciousness, 

The collision and the abduction. 

Everything happened almost instantly. They had a clear target. Mikayla knew that she must have been brought here premeditatedly. 

She tried to calm herself down and began to assess her surroundings. 

She was now in an abandoned house. The wallpapers were peeling, and a foul smell filled the house. 

Although her limbs were restrained, there was nothing obstructing her mouth. Clearly, they weren’t afraid of her calling for help. 

Who could’ve abducted her? 

Kylie had just pulled off a trick not long ago. Jerome was now suspicious of her, and she was busy negotiating projects. She wouldn’t have the time for this now. 

According to Betty, Johnny was taken away by the police for investigation. 

Then who else could it be? 

As Mikayla was thinking about who might be behind this, the door of the house creaked open. 

A cold breeze filled the room. At the same time, someone walked toward her.
