Jerome hung up the phone angrily yesterday, claiming he’d divorce Mikayla when he got back and warning her not to regret it. 

Logically, they wouldn’t cross paths again until he returned. Why was he still contacting her? 

When she answered the phone, there was silence on the other end. 

“Jerome?” Mikayla called out doubtfully. He remained silent. 

“Is there no signal? If you don’t say anything, I’ll hang up.” She was about to hang up when she heard Jerome’s cough. 

“Mikayla, I’m hungry.” 

Then, his slightly hoarse voice came. 

Recalling his Instagram post, Mikayla was a little speechless. “It’s pointless to call me. You can buy 

something to eat if you’re hungry.” 

He coughed a few more times and responded hoarsely, “I remember you’ve shown off an exclusive secret recipe for making gruel delicious.” 

Showing off? That was sharing. 

Mikayla didn’t retort to him but asked, “So?” 

“Tell me the recipe. I’d like to do it.”

wanted to ridicule Jerome. She had cooked gruel for him back then, but he didn’t even bother to take a bite. And now, he eagerly asked her how to do it, which was quite ridiculous. 

But he sounded weak. He must have been starving before calling her. 

Jerome was extremely picky in eating. Sir Sebe had decided to cook for himself, it showed how awful the 

dishes over there were. 

Mikayla didn’t bother to argue with him about the past. “I’ll send you the recipe later.” 

He became silent again. She assumed he found it troublesome and added, “Don’t worry. It’s very simple. Anyone with a pair of hands can make it.” 

“Mikayla…” 

When she was about to hang up, he called her again. 

“Anything else?” 

Mikayla didn’t hear Jerome’s response when she asked, but she noticed his increased breathing. 

She wondered what he wanted to do, but he didn’t say anything or hang up. So, she decided to ignore 

him. “I-”

Before she finished speaking, the real estate agent approached her. 

Mikayla pointed at her phone and said, “Please wait a minute.” 

“Are you looking for a house?” Jerome overheard their conversation and asked hoarsely. 

She had nothing to hide, so she admitted it. “Yes, I can’t always stay in a hotel.” 

He breathed a little heavier. Then, he said nothing and hung up the phone inexplicably. 

Mikayla cursed. After sending Jerome the recipe, she continued to view the house. 

She had viewed three houses in one afternoon, but she still felt dissatisfied. 

As it was still early, she headed to the martial arts gym. The two–month course she had signed up for was about to expire. She wanted to practice a couple more times.
