Jerome’s dark eyes bore a hint of distance. He even furrowed his brow in
response.
Kylie was taken aback by Jerome’s reaction. She felt a tinge of embarrassment.
Nevertheless, Kylie maintained her composure. She then straightened up and
gently apologized.
“After all, it was my fault, Jerome. If there’s punishment or blame to be given, I’ll take full responsibility.”
With the explanation, Kylie’s actions appeared more forgivable.
Jerome didn’t delve further.
He spoke sternly, “There’s no room for errors in this issue. Investigate Johnny
thoroughly. If it wasn’t a setup, cancel the investment plan.”
Kylie reassured, “Don’t worry about it. I’ve instructed someone to look into it. If
there are any issues, I wouldn’t collaborate with him without your call.”

“Just have the driver come to take me home.”
Kylie then casually suggested softly, “It’s pretty late. Why not stay here for the night? There’s a meeting in the morning regarding Johnny’s situation. You don’t have to keep going back and forth.”
Jerome refused, “No, thanks.”
With Mikayla stirring up more trouble, Jerome doubted he’d have the energy to
handle it.
Despite Kylie’s tender smile, jealousy flooded her heart.
Jerome had started to pay more attention to Mikayla lately.
In the past, he wouldn’t have bothered about Mikayla in such a situation.
Jerome had always been strict about work, especially with such a critical project like Ansoft.
Still, he had disregarded work for Mikayla today.
He also never brought up the incident a few days ago where Aubrey barged
into Kylie’s house and humiliated her.
He even deliberately avoided Kylie.
Kylie thought that it was evidently not a good sign.
Jerome had returned to Dragoncrest Villa.
“Sir, you’re back. I’ll make some tea for you.”
Amy was used to Jerome returning home late.
Jerome settled on the couch.
He asked tiredly, “Where’s Mikayla?”
“Mrs. Miller’s resting in her room, sir.”
Jerome held his forehead in silence.
As Amy finished making the tea, Jerome fell asleep on the couch. He was
clutching his head. He looked utterly exhausted, with his brow furrowed.
Amy said softly, “Sir, the tea’s ready.”
Jerome remained silent, offering no response.
After contemplating for a while, Amy knocked on Mikayla’s door.
“Who is it?”
Mikayla’s cautious voice resonated from within the room.
“It’s me, madam.”
Mikayla opened the door in her pajamas.
“What’s the matter, Mrs. Amy?”
“Mr. Miller’s downstairs, and he fell asleep on the couch. It’s easy to catch a cold since the nights get chilly. Do you think you could ask him to return to his
room to rest, madam?”
Amy could tell that Jerome and Mikayla’s relationship had improved lately. After all, Jerome still asked about Mikayla despite being fatigued.
Amy believed that a bit of care or attention from Mikayla would surely touch. him. Hence, she approached Mikayla.
