What was Jerome trying to say?
If you had no feelings for someone, of course you wouldn’t be able to accept living under
the same roof with them!
Jerome knew what Mikayla was thinking even though she didn’t say anything.
He said, “We’re still husband and wife for now, so it’s perfectly fine for us to sleep in the same room. Your reaction makes me think that you’re afraid of revealing that you still secretly love me.”
Mikayla didn’t know how to reply to Jerome for a moment. “Are you saying that only by letting you sleep in the same room as me, I can prove that I don’t love you anymore?”
Jerome calmly replied, “We should try to get along like a normal couple until Grandma’s birthday. After that, if you’re still determined to get a divorce, then so be it.”
Mikayla looked at him skeptically. “We won’t need the approval of our families for that to
happen?”
Jerome replied, “Well, our families need to be informed about the divorce. But regardless of what they think, the outcome ultimately depends on whether you can take on the
pressure from their objection.”
Mikayla understood what Jerome meant. If she could take the pressure, then he’d sign the
divorce papers.
That makes things simpler as there wasn’t much time left till Wanda’s birthday.
Mikayla said, “We can pretend to get along like a real couple. But you can’t take advantage.
of me in any way, and you can’t force me to do things I don’t want to do.”
Jerome looked at her and he asked, “What if you take the initiative to seduce me?”
“I would never do that!”
Mikayla knew that Jerome was referring to the incident when she lost her underwear. She
blushed and said, “I didn’t know you were in bed last time!”
Jerome stared her down and said, “Rest assured, I’m not interested in skinny girls.”
“What are you saying? Do you know that many people envy my weight?” Mikayla said.
Then, she huffed and said, “You better keep your word!”
After that, Mikayla grabbed a set of pajamas and intended to take a shower.
Jerome suddenly said, “I also need to shower. Pick out a set of pajamas for me.”
Mikayla was baffled at Jerome’s words.
Jerome calmly said, “It should be a normal thing for a couple to do for each other, right? 1 remember you mentioned that you bought a matching pair of pajamas for us.”
Mikayla did buy several pieces of clothing for Jerome. However, he had never worn any of
them as he was rarely home.
Mikayla had no choice but to pick a deep blue pajama for Jerome. She threw the clothes at him before heading to the bathroom.
When Mikayla came out from the shower, Jerome had also finished taking a bath in the
adjacent room.
His short black hair was slightly damp. The dark blue silk pajamas clung to his body, subtly revealing his well–defined abdominal muscles.
Mikayla thought that if she hadn’t been reborn, she would be very attracted to Jerome
while he looked this way.
But now, she could only feel bitterness toward him.
She had given up on Jerome but he was still trying to maintain their relationship.
What was the point?
“Enough looking, let’s go to sleep,” Jerome said in a low voice. Then, he lay down on one
side of the bed.
Mikayla picked up the pillow on the bed and chose to sleep on the lounge chair. Jerome looked at her and asked, “Do couples also normally sleep in separate beds?”
