Despite his fear, Lukas still managed to hold his gaze steady, his small face taut as he locked eyes with Colton.
Taking in Lukas‘ stubbornness, Colton seemed to see his younger self. He said in a deep voice, “I’m your daddy. Remember to greet me in the future.”
Lukas snorted coldly. “You made Mommy upset. You’re not my daddy. I won’t even bother to greet you.”
Cynthia, standing to the side, felt a pang of distress in her heart. She quickly stepped forward and took Lukas into her arms. “His wounds haven’t healed yet. You need to be careful.”
Colton looked at them intently for a moment, then suddenly said, “I won’t fight you for custody, but I need to see them at least four times a week.”
Meeting four times a week meant that there would be more entanglement between Cynthia and Colton.
Reflecting on the various incidents that had transpired, as well as the potential disputes that could arise if she truly decided to fight with Colton for custody, Cynthia furrowed her brows and made a decision as she sat down. “It must be with my permission.”
Colton nodded. He turned to Lukas, a hint of a smirk playing on his lips. “I’ll show you what it means to be a father.”
Although Lukas couldn’t fully grasp the underlying meaning of his words, his malicious smile was enough to tell him that he was up to no good. He turned his head and buried it in Cynthia’s neck.
Colton looked relaxed. It’s just two kids.
Phillip immediately knew that he must have oversimplified the matter. However, he deliberately chose not to remind him. Instead, he bent down kindly and said to Luna, “Is it okay if I invite you to my house next time?”
Luna hesitantly glanced at Cynthia. Seeing no objection in her eyes, she finally nodded. “Then you must eat a lot of pomegranate. It’s quite heavy, you know.”
Phillip was taken aback, turning to look at Cynthia. Cynthia rubbed her forehead, helplessly. “She’s saying that promises are weighty and must be kept.”
For a moment, there was silence in the ward, then bursts of laughter could be heard. Even Colton couldn’t help but join in the laughter.

Afterward, Phillip wiped away the tear from the corner of his eye and reassured Luna, “Don’t worry, I will definitely eat more pomegranate.”
Luna nodded solemnly.
The atmosphere in the ward was relaxed, with no one noticing the resentful gaze that was fixed intently on everyone present. The individual’s lips were nearly bitten raw from bitterness. The newcomer was none other than Elsa.
She had long since bribed a hospital informant. Upon learning that Colton had come to visit Lukas and Luna, she hurried over immediately. However, she never expected to witness such a harmonious scene.
It’s Cynthia again and those two children!
Suppressing her urge to confront the situation head–on, Elsa dialed her mother’s number. “Didn’t you say you had a way to deal with Cynthia? Why haven’t you acted yet?”
“Do you think things are that easy to handle?” The impatient voice of Agnes came through. “There’s been progress, so don’t worry.”
After saying that, she abruptly hung up the phone.
Elsa stared at the people in the ward with resentment. She vowed that one day, she would make them all regret their actions.
After Phillip and Colton left, Cynthia finally got a clear look at what Phillip had been playing with alongside Lukas and Luna. To her surprise, they were all exceptionally high–quality emeralds.
Each of these items was worth millions, yet Phillip had used them as playthings for the children.
If those collectors were to see it, they would probably go mad.
With a sense of resignation, Cynthia said to Lukas and Luna, “I’ll put these things away for you first. They’re too fragile to be used as toys.”
Luna gazed at a small dog figurine, finding it incredibly hard to part with.
Left with no other choice, Cynthia promised, “I’ll place this little puppy on your bedside table when I get back. Can you make sure to take care of it and not let it get hurt?”
Luna nodded repeatedly, then turned her gaze to Lukas. After Lukas had chosen a small monkey figurine, they finally let Cynthia put them away.
