Chapter 14 Enchanting
After finishing his work, Gary returned to the bar only to find it empty. Upon closer inspection, he noticed someone dancing on the stage.
Nancy, who had sneaked onto the dance floor, had become the center of attention. The men were cheering and whistling for her!
“Oh my goodness…”
It had been years since Gary had seen her let loose like this. With the dynamic music and mesmerizing lights, Nancy, dressed in red, swayed and danced on the dance floor, her captivating figure impossible to ignore.
Next to her, a man had been watching Nancy while drinking. He handed the bottle to the person beside him and joined Nancy on the dance floor, dancing intimately with her. Hist hand slid down to her waist and even lower.
“Damn it!” Gary couldn’t bear to see her being taken advantage of. As soon as he stepped onto the dance floor, he heard a cry of surprise.
Nancy was quicker than him. She grabbed the man’s wrist and swiftly flipped him over her
audacious shoulder, then raised her hand and slapped him. “How dare you touch me, you fool!”
Apart from the energetic music, there was silence all around as everyone stared at this woman, who had just been dazzling and suddenly turned into a fierce and menacing figure.
A master of the dance floor turned out to be a master of martial arts!
Nancy, who was drunk and wanted to continue dancing, was held back by Gary. He carried her off the dance floor and placed her on a bar stool. He poked her forehead and said, “Are you here to cause trouble?”
“Gary,” Nancy’s eyes were hazy. “Was I enchanting just now?”
Gary replied irritably, “Enchanting? Very enchanting! Didn’t you see the way those men were looking at you, like wolves eyeing their prey, wishing they could devour you whole?”
“Then why doesn’t Liam like me?”
Nancy, under the influence of alcohol and without any defenses, had a usually resolute.

In the apartment, Layla applied a cotton swab to Liam’s injured hand, looking at him with a face full of concern. “Does it hurt?”
Liam shook his head and reached out to touch her swollen cheek, asking, “Does it hurt?”
Layla smiled softly and said, “It did hurt, but when you touched it, the pain went away.”
Liam sighed lightly and said, “I’m sorry for making you suffer.”
“It’s the suffering caused by my future mother–in–law. Even if it’s more suffering, I have to endure it, right?”
Layla leaned against Liam’s chest and reasoned with him, “Liam, please don’t have conflicts with your mother because of me. That would be my fault. Actually, she doesn’t dislike me. It’s just because of my aunt that she has animosity toward me. But my aunt is my aunt, and I am me. I believe that true love can overcome any obstacle. As long as we sincerely love each other, she will accept us one day.”
Their wedding was just two days away, and there couldn’t be any mistakes!

Liam sensed from his mother’s determined attitude that the upcoming wedding might not go as smoothly as he had expected.
He gently moved Layla aside and asked, “Are you sure you’re feeling well?”
Layla paused for a moment, then coughed weakly and smiled, “I’m fine. With the

advanced medical technology nowadays, maybe my stomach cancer will miraculously heal itself after we get married.”
“Don’t talk nonsense. You need to receive proper treatment.”
Liam stated, “I
ave already invited the best doctor. He will arrive in the northern city soon to examine you.”
Layla’s eyes flickered as she playfully said, “Oh, don’t worry. You know I’m most afraid of going to the hospital. Just hearing about doctors makes me nervous. Let’s not talk about that. When should we go and get the marriage certificate?”
Liam paused for a moment, his expression changing. “Nancy and I still have some procedures to complete. We can obtain the certificate after we finish the wedding.”
“Oh, alright then.”

Layla didn’t want to appear too eager, so she transformed into a shy woman and gently embraced his neck. “Liam, are you staying tonight?”
“I can’t tonight. There are some work matters that need to be dealt with.”
Liam gently removed her arms as he asked, “Did you ask the operations department to send out the official Facebook post from Walker Group this morning?”
“Yes, you promised me that you would announce our marriage to the world.”
Liam’s gaze turned cold. “Layla Rivera, I never made that promise.”
Hearing the coldness in his voice and the fact that he called her by her full name, Layla’s heart skipped a beat. She looked at the man’s face and felt the coldness emanating from him. She dared not act playfully anymore and quickly got off him, kneeling in front of him.
“You didn’t refuse, so I thought you agreed… I’m sorry, Liam. Did I cause trouble for you?”
Seeing the timidity on her face, Liam’s dark and intense eyes gradually softened. He said gently, “A little trouble can be handled. However, in the future, please try not to interfere with my work, okay?”
“I promise, there won’t be a next time!”
Layla raised three fingers to swear, with a cute and girlish look on her face.
