“So, what if I’m a busybody? I idolize Ms. Bonita. She was the heroine in a classic underdog story. She relied on nothing but her commitment and talents to attain the marvelous achievement she has today.
“You guys, however… Heh! I can’t stand people who don’t take their studies seriously, such as you. You simply don’t have the right to talk about Ms. Bonita anytime you want!”
Avril parted her lips. It took her several seconds to take it all in. Then, she turned around and looked at Bonnie. She wasn’t sure how to respond because Bonnie’s face showed no hints of frustration.
“Has the cat got your tongue? Is it because you have nothing to say to defend yourselves? Figures. It’s the
truth, anyway.” Natalee said arrogantly.
“Why do you insist on being a pain in our butts, Natalee? Is it because you wrongly accused Bonnie of stealing Rene’s necklace and got humiliated eventually? Are you trying to regain your pride because you’re pissed off by what happened last time?”
Avril’s words hit home.
Natalee’s face turned red from rage. It got worse when she stole a glance at Bonnie and discovered that the latter didn’t even bat an eye at her. Instead, Bonnie was paging through her book while looking slightly
bored.
‘She doesn’t even see me as a threat! Wait a minute. Why can’t I understand the book in her hand?
‘Is the book in Italonia? Does she understand it? Is she just trying to look cool?‘
“Heh!” Natalee raised her voice and snorted. “Just how pretentious are you, Bonnie? That book is in Italonian. Who are you trying to fool here?”
She succeeded in drawing the rest of the class’s attention to Bonnie. All of them cast a glance at the book in Bonnie’s hands. Even Avril looked at it, too. It was, indeed, in Italonian. She didn’t even realize it
until now.
“What is that, Bonnie?”
“It’s ‘The Decameron“>
“Is that what it is? Can you…
“Can you understand it?‘ Avril almost blurted it out before she clamped her mouth shut.
‘Bonnie’s the nation’s leading researcher, not to mention a badass. She developed the latest
nanomaterial. How is an Italonian book supposed to stump her?‘
“She couldn’t have understood it!” Natalee didn’t believe that Bonnie was that good. “She’s just putting up an act. Can’t you tell? I’ll swallow the book if she really understands it.”
Bonnie raised her delicate eyes slowly, revealing a little frustration in them. Then, she held the book up and read its contents out loud in fluent Italonian.

Her classmates didn’t understand Italonian, but It was evident she wasn’t speaking gibberish. After all, her accent was just so on point! Every enunciation sounded like music to their ears.
She finished reading an excerpt and handed the book to Natalee.
“You’re going to eat it now, Right? Here. It’s my treat. Don’t be shy.”
Natalee’s face turned red from rage.
“Eat it!” She pushed the book inches closer to Natalee and raised her voice.
Natalee felt the stares from everyone and was on the verge of tears.
Then, Rene said, “Stop picking on her, Bonnie. We’re all friends. Why do you have to be like this?”
