Chapter 52
Just as Athena was about to step out the door, her wrist was suddenly grabbed, and with a strong yank, she was pulled back, totally thrown off balance. She crashed into Newman’s chest, his hot breath hitting her face and fogging up her vision.
The next second, she was slammed against the wall! Her back smarted from the collision with the wall, and before Athena could confront the guy about what the heck he was up to, his arm was propped above her shoulders like a barricade.
The man closed in, his body turning into a cage, trapping her within the square he formed around her.
“Where’d you snag this toy from?” Newman’s face was stormy with anger, a chill rippling through the air, yet it did nothing to mar his stunning, aristocratic beauty.
His ominous gaze drilled into Athena, awakening the pain of being tormented by this man night after night, emanating from the depths of her heart.
Athena couldn’t help but shiver uncontrollably. She took a deep breath, puffed out her chest. and, with her slender frame, stood up against the terrifying aura emanating from him.
“Newman, what’s your deal? I buy a gift for your son, and you expect me to hand over the specs too?”
The malicious mood lingered in Newman’s eyes, and the hand on Athena’s arm tightened its grip,
“Tell me, who made this toy?”
Athena blinked, baffled. How did Newman figure out the floppy–eared bunny plush was handmade?
Seeing Athena’s silence, the man pressed again, “Tell me! Where’s the woman who made this toy? Where is she?!”
For the first time, Athena saw Newman on the brink of losing it, like a wild beast discovering it was trapped, roaring in desperation inside its cage.
Facing the man’s overpowering presence, Athena zoned out. Why was Newman freaking out over a mere plush toy?
Five years ago, when she learned to make plush toys and ended up making some pretty ugly ones, Newman had turned his nose up at them. After that, she hid from him, secretly sewing bunny toys.
Anything related to that silly girl was beneath the dignified Newman’s notice. She even heard from a retired butler from the Bradshaw family that after the silly girl found by the old lady had died, everything that belonged to her was ordered by Newman to be burnt to ashes, including the gloomy, cramped servant’s room she once stayed in.

Athena thought the bunny toy she left at the Bradshaw family had been burnt by the servants long ago.
“Newman, do you find this bunny toy ugly, or is the material not plush enough for you? I try to give a gift, and you’re all up in arms? Fine, I won’t give it then!”
As Athena spoke, she tried to take back the bunny toy from his hand but Newman dodged her. The man lifted his hand and went straight for Athena’s delicate neck, his dark and cold aura spilling out.
“Athena! Cut the crap or don’t blame me for not being nice! What’s the name of the woman who made this toy, and where is she now? Tell me!”
The pressure from Newman was suffocating, not to mention his grip on her neck was choking her, making her entire body turn cold.
However, she tilted her head, leaning against the wall, and asked with a cold laugh, “How do you know the person who made the toy is a woman?”
She raised her hand, her cool fingertips running across his fingers, and started prying them off her neck one by one.
“The woman who made the toy, where she is now, I’m sorry but I can’t tell you. Because, Newman, you look like you’re out for blood!”
Athena was fearless in the face of Newman’s threats. She raised an eyebrow and shot back, “Newman, why are you so worked up over this ordinary bunny toy? Why are you so eager to find the person who made it?”
Newman knew playing hardball with Athena was no use. Unless he got the specifics from her, he wouldn’t lay a finger on her.
He released her neck and turned away, his face sliced by shadows but still strikingly handsome, an air of untouchable nobility about him.
“I’ll ask you one last question; this is your final chance. If you’re not gonna spill the beans, don’t blame me for what happens next.”
His icy gaze fell back on Athena, his breath cold enough to freeze the air, “The drug you gave Anna, what was it, and where did you get it? Besides her, who else have you given the same drug to?”
Athena’s eyes went wide in return, “What drug?”
“The one that left Anna covered in centipede–like red streaks!”
This time, it was Athena’s turn to be silent, staring at Newman. Her eyes hid emotions he couldn’t decipher.
Lips curled up, she let out a self–deprecating laugh, “You’re asking me who else I’ve drugged? Newman, I’ve never harmed a soul in my life. I forced that drug on Anna, leaving her covered in red streaks because she deserved it! She had it coming!”

Before she could finish, her jaw was seized by a strong hand, forcing her to look him in the eye. “Last time, when my wounds reopened and wouldn’t stop bleeding, you applied a hemostatic cream that was uniquely formulated by Adonis. This means you have easy access to special medications! The bad blood between Timothy’s and David’s family runs deep. You got knocked up by some no–good guy, drugged your own cousin, ruined her body, and cut off her chances of marrying into nobility! I couldn’t care less about your feud with Anna. I just want to know where she is – the woman who made this bunny, the one you drugged, whose body and face you destroyed. Where is she?”
A sharp slap cut through the air! Newman raised his hand to block the slap Athena aimed at his face, and then she threw a punch at his chest!
He didn’t dodge it. If he had, Athena would’ve slipped away. Athena’s punch hit Newman right where it hurt, right in his old, constantly reopened wound. It was like her fist cracked open a wound on the surface of his heart, and blood quickly soaked through his shirt, staining her fingers.
Meanwhile, anger exploded in her chest, and Athena lashed out at the guy, “You’re the freaking no–good guy!”
