Remington’s gaze brushed over that name, and his handsome face went cold.
Leaning down, his long fingers snatched up the cellphone, handing it over to Lizetta as he said,
“Take the call first.”
With no choice, Lizetta took the phone and slid to answer.
“Liz, you’ve touched down in Havenport, right? I’m still worried about you, so I asked a friend to up at the exit. Go to the hotel with him and rest up, I’ll be there tomorrow.”

It was the exact time Lizetta’s original flight was supposed to land in Havenport, and Hogan clearly thought she had arrived.
Just as Lizetta was about to fill Hogan in that she hadn’t been able to leave at all, Remington suddenly yanked the phone away.
“What are you doing?”
Lizetta instinctively tried to grab it back, but Remington simply powered the phone off and pocketed it.
He was the one who had her take the call, and now he was the one hanging up on her.
Annoyed, Lizetta glared at him, “Hogan was kind enough to send someone to pick me up. They must be worried sick not finding me. The least you could do is let me explain!”
She was indeed planning to leave with Hogan, worried about him getting anxious. Just look at how flustered she’s now.
Jealous and angry, Remington was icy all over.
“How do you plan to explain? Tell him you didn’t go to Havenport and that you’re in my car right after you had sex with me?”
Lizetta’s face flushed red again, and she didn’t insist further, but she was still hung up on the conversation they hadn’t finished.
She looked at him nervously, “You said you fell for me just now, was that true?”
Remington sneered coldly, “You missed one word.”
After speaking, as if fed up with her pressing the matter, he rolled down the window and stretched out his hand, snapping his fingers.
The sound of the driver’s footsteps approached quickly, and Lizetta silently lowered her head.
She moved away from Remington’s embrace to the couch across, gazing out the window.

She had missed the ‘if‘.
Indeed, for him to like her, to love her, it only seemed possible under hypothetical conditions.

She could feel the overwhelming pressure emanating from the man in the car, feel his gaze locked on her.
His stare was thick and focused, but Lizetta no longer wanted to ask.
She didn’t want to delve into why he was so adamant about chasing her back either.

Remington’s gaze lingered on Lizetta, a cold smirk playing at the corners of his lips.
Just because he didn’t allow her to talk to other men, took her phone away, she didn’t want to talk to him anymore, wouldn’t even come close.

The car rode smoothly, and before long, Lizetta drifted off to sleep unknowingly.
She was exhausted, inside and out, body and soul.
Her body gradually slumped, and her head swayed towards the car window.
Just in time, Remington leaned over, his large palm pressing against the window glass.
Lizetta’s head bumped into his palm, and then he shifted to sit beside her.
He lifted her legs gently, letting her lie across his lap.
The woman in her slumber was oblivious, turning to find a more comfortable spot on the man’s thigh, still
muttering.
“Why won’t you let me go, bad Remi.”
Remington looked down, watching the woman.
A tear slid slowly from the corner of her eye, and Remington felt a tightness in his chest, gently wiping it away with his fingertip.
“Huh, even in dreams you want to escape me? Too bad, Liz, you’ve missed your chance”
Before, he had thought about letting go, even tried to.
That was why he agreed the divorce with her, but he found he just couldn’t do it.
Now, she was carrying their child, and her chances were even slimmer.
Even if she felt tormented, he could no longer afford to be soft–hearted and let her go!
