The tests came back good; Joseph’s leukemia wasn’t due to a genetic defect.
Lizetta’s heart, which had been in her throat, settled back down.

In the quiet hospital room, the sounds got steamier by the second.

His voice cut off abruptly when he saw the heated mess on the bed.
The man on the bed locked eyes with him, cold as a blade.

With one hand he pressed her face into his chest.

Cedric’s hand shook, and snapping to his senses, he immediately shut his eyes and slammed the door shut again, and just before it closed, Cedric’s flustered voice rang out.
“Dr. Isaac, maybe wait a bit, Mr. Dashiell is a bit busy right now.”
