Chapter 42
Summer acknowledged that this incident was indeed caused by herself. She thought, ‘If it weren’t for me hastily making decisions, I wouldn’t have caused the two little girls to not even have a chance to say goodbye.
“Mommy’s not angry, but it’s dangerous for you to run out of the kindergarten like this,” Summer said as she touched her daughter’s chubby little face, her tone softening.
“Sanford and Moira have slipped out for so long.” Summer continued. “Ms. Fryer must be really worried. They
have to return now.”
On the way here, Summer had already called Abby’s kindergarten teacher, but she did not know the other two children were there as well.
She thought. If the kindergarten staff tell Alick about this, that guy is definitely going to bother me again.
“Meet up with your buddy next time,” Summer said. “Mommy will send Sanford and Moira back now, okay?”
Though reluctant to part with Moira, Abby still complied by nodding. After dropping Abby and Ballard off at Fay’s house, Summer took Sanford and Moira back to the kindergarten.
Once in the car Abby and Moira started talking in hushed tones: While most of the time it was Moira talking to herself, Sanford would chime in from time to time, looking visibly in a good mood.
“You really weren’t lying,” Moira said. “Summer is prettier than the lady who comes to the kindergarten to see you every day.
As Sanford heard that, he suddenly lifted his head proudly. His checks flushed a little. Of course, he thought. ‘My mommy is the most beautiful woman.
“Sanford, someone went to the kindergarten to see you, huh?” Summer asked, quickly identifying the gist of the children’s conversation.
As Sanford nodded, she pressed on. “Who is it?” she asked.
Joan, the wicked woman,” Sanford replied.

Joan? Summer thought, getting stunned for a while. Instantly, anger welled up within her.
She thought, ‘It seems that Joan is getting anxious after things blew up in her face when she tried to cause me trouble. She still doesn’t want to give up her evil scheme, and she actually starts to get close to my son again! Does Alick just stand by and do nothing? No. Maybe he silently approves of this whole thing’
Summer got even angrier now. She thought, “That ba s t a r d! He promised not to let that woman have any contact with Sanford again, and now what’s this? He’s a liar!’
After sending the two kids back to the kindergarten, Summer instructed the kindergarten staff not to let Joan come to see Sanford again. At first, Travis appeared to be in a tight spot, but after he became aware that Sanford had run away because of his dislike for Joan, he immediately nodded and complied.
He thought, “If Mr. Sanford refuses to come to school because of this, won’t the financial support from the Hill Group be cut off then? I can offend anybody, but I can never offend this little benefactor.
After leaving the kindergarten, Summer angrily rushed to the Hill Group.

“I’m sorry, Miss. You can’t go in. The security guard stopped her.

“Get out of my way!” Summer said.
“Sorry. You can’t enter if you haven’t made an appointment.”
“Not letting me in, huh?” Summer said. “Get Alick over here then!”
The security guard was stunned, thinking. “This woman is the first person who dares to cause a scene at the Hill Group. But who exactly is she? How dare she call out the CEO’s name?”
While trying to stop the aggressive Summer, the security guard hurriedly called Bill.
“Mr. Wilson, you are finally here, the security guard said. “This lady is making a scene, insisting on bursting into
the office to see the CEO.
A sense of forboding crept over Bill’s mind.
“Ms. White, why are you here at this time?” he said, grabbing hold of Summer and pushing her toward the exit. “Mr. Hill is not in a good mood right now. You had better go back first.”
“What a coincidence, Summer said. “I’m not in a good mood either.”
She then shook off Bill and angrily walked inside, thinking. This darn man owes me an explanation!
Bill sighed. While closely following to send Summer into the CEO’s private elevator, he hurriedly instructed someone to inform Alick
He thought, ‘Can’t help it. I’ve already done my best to help Summer, but she insists on walking into the firing line.”
Watching the elevator doors slowly close, Bill silently prayed that Summer would take good care of herself.
The secretary mustered up the courage to knock on the gloomy door, cautiously craned her heck into the room, and said, “Mr. Hill, Mr. Wilson said a certain Ms. White will be coming to see you soon. She has already taken the elevator.
Alick glanced at the secretary with his gloomy eyes and said indifferently, “Got it.”
The secretary immediately left the office. She was genuinely scared earlier. The oppressive and gloomy atmosphere inside was unbearable.
She thought, ‘I wonder who p i s se d off the CEO today. Even Mr. Wilson was scolded and driven out just now.
At this moment, the elevator door leading to the CEO’s office opened. A woman walked out aggressively.
“Ms. White, Mr. Hill…”
Summer did not give the secretary a chance to speak at all. She headed straight to the CEO’s office and said, “Alick, you hypocritical s c u m! Do you treat your own words as nonsense?”
Everyone in the office was shocked..
Before they recovered from their shock, Summer arrogantly kicked open the door to the CEO’s office and said, “Why did you let Joan go to the kindergarten? It’s just been a short while, and you’ve forgotten how she mistreated

Sanford, huh?”
Alick, who was behind his desk, did not respond immediately. The long eyelashes cast a row of shadows on his eyelids, concealing his expression.
He was shrouded in dim lighting, making Summer feel a sense of gloominess.
She thought. Something is off. In the past, if I burst into the office so arrogantly, Alick would have already given me a piece of his mind. There’s no way he’d be so calm.
Alarms went off in Summer’s mind. She seemed to see a storm brewing.
“How come you stop?” Alick said. “Done with the scolding?”
Alick raised his eyes, and his cold gaze swept over as he said, “Summer, you’ve really got some nerve to hide my kids.”
Summer felt as if something exploded loudly in her car. She froze, countless thoughts flashing through her mind. in an instant.
She wondered, ‘He has already found out, huh? Or is he just sounding me out like what he did in the past?”
Summer tried hard to keep herself calm. She forced a smile and said, “I don’t understand what you’re talking about. Hasn’t Sanford returned to kindergarten? And besides, I didn’t come here to talk about that…”
“I wasn’t talking about Sanford,” Alick said, interrupting her with gloomy eyes. “Stop playing dumb.”
His patience had been exhausted. He turned the computer screen around, aligning the photo with Summer’s gaze, and said, “Hand over the kids now, and I may consider going easy on you.”
Summer suddenly widened her eyes, but she soon breathed a sigh of relief.
This photo was taken earlier at the bookstore. Even though Abby and Ballard were captured, it was not clear as only their profiles could be vaguely seen. Summer sneered and said, “What can a photo prove?”
“Don’t go overboard!” Alick said.
He abruptly stood up from his chair, walked up to Summer angrily, and said, “They are my kids. You took them away and hid them years ago.”
Ever since Summer escaped from the Earl’s Mansion the other day, he had been searching for the other kids. However, there had been no results all along. He even thought his speculation was wrong.
It was not until this photo was shown that he realized he had been manipulated by this woman all along.
“Even if you don’t say it, I can still find them,” he said.
Sensing the intense sense of threat in Alick’s words, Summer panicked, but she still maintained a calm expression, thinking, ‘No matter what, I can’t let Abby and Ballard be taken away.”
“They aren’t your kids at all!” she said.
Alick froze momentarily. No matter what Summer said now, he would not believe it. I’ve got to see those two kids in person, he thought.

“Even if I have to search extensively in Landom City, I will find the kids, he said.
As Alick was about to make a call, Summer rushed up and sn a t c h e d the phone. Her long hair s c a t t e r e d, making her. seem somewhat hysterical,
“Are you out of your mind?” she yelled with all her might. “I’ve said they’re not your kids! You’re not the father of the kids at all!”
There was a threatening cold glint in Alick’s eyes as he said, “What do you mean?”
Summer smirked, thinking. “There’s no way he doesn’t get what I mean. It’s just that someone as proud as Alick is simply unwilling to admit it.”
“Well, just letting you know that you’re not the kids’ father,” she said with a cold smile. They are the kids I have with another man.”
The next moment, Alick pushed Summer against the wall, squeezed her neck forcefully, and said, “What did you say?”
He thought, “How dare she have children with another man?”
Alick’s eyes turned bloodshot, and the strength in his hands gradually increased.

The intense impact almost made Summer vomit, and now, being squeezed on the neck, she had difficulty breathing. However, she still wore a provocative smile and said, “You’re mad, right? Hold on a sec. You didn’t actually think that I’ve been keeping myself pure for you all these years, right? You abandoned me for Joan, so why can I not be with another man? He’s a hundred times better than you?”
Her face turned red, and she started to talk with pauses.
Tears rolled down her cheeks and fell onto Alick’s hands. It was only then that he realized that Summer was on the verge of suffocation and released his grip.
“Those two kids look so much like Sanford, Alick said. “Don’t assume that I’ll believe you just because you say these things.” He snapped back to his senses and became calm.
They are all my kids, so is there a problem if they look like me?” Summer said.
She rubbed her swollen neck, took in two breaths of fresh air, and added, “If you don’t believe me, I can call the kids’ father to come over anytime.”
Alick sat back in his chair and said calmly, “Sure.”
Looking at her with an air of superiority, he coldly added, “Ask him to appear in front of me right now.”
Half an hour later, when Alick saw that man walk into the office, he became furious.
“Darling, you’re here,” Summer greeted.
As soon as Toby entered, Summer was all smiles and linked arms with him. “Mr. Hill said he wanted to meet the father of my kids, so I asked you to come over,” she said. “I didn’t interrupt your work, right?”
Alick’s gaze turned gloomy as he thought, “Well, well, well. She’s really thoughtful and gentle.”

Toby was still quite puzzled when he canie in, but as he heard suusa

When he smiled, he gave off a sense of warmth. He was completely opposite to Alick.
Alick thought, ‘This is the man that Summer is in love with now, huh?”
