Olivia was worried she would anger Ana more so she stayed upstairs.
The only way she managed to endure those days was by repeatedly gazing at her son’s ultrasound.
She was hoping every day would pass sooner.
Katrina was following the news about the Harrises and felt sorry.
While having lunch with Sophie at home, she asked, “Soof, is what they’re saying about Olivia true?”
Sophie heard her aunt’s question, her hand halting mid–air. She glanced at Katrina with an awkward expression and replied, “I don’t think so…”
Katrina persisted, “Who would dare to spread rumors about the Harrises? It’s truly unfortunate. I initially thought highly of the girl when I first met her, even envisioned her marrying Claude. But I suppose that won’t happen now.” She sighed. “What a shame.”
Sophie fell silent, unsure of how to respond. Katrina pressed further, “You’re friends with her. Do you know who the man is?”
Katrina was interested in the gossip because the Harrises rarely had issues like this. She recalled Ana proudly introducing her daughter–in–law at events.
Now, in light of recent events, Ana had become a subject of ridicule. Katrina was determined not to let her off the hook.
Sophie’s heart skipped a beat. She still didn’t know how to answer.
If she told Katrina that the man was Claude, what would she think?
As Sophie contemplated her response, Claude descended the stairs and picked up newspaper from the table, saying, “Morning.”

Sophie didn’t reply, but Katrina said, “You’ve been very busy recently. Did you just get up?”
Claude flipped through the newspaper and said, “Just done with my
workout.”
Claude didn’t have a habit of sleeping in, so when Katrina heard that, she said, “You should

Claude put the paper
down and smiled at his mother. “Don’t worry, I’m young and strong. I won’t overwork myself.”
Claude was a lot like his mother. Because Katrina was a gentle soul, their family had always been peaceful.
Amidst their conversation, the sound of a car pulling in signaled Jordan’s return. He parked and walked to the table, and Katrina greeted him, “Jordan, what brings you home?”
Jordan didn’t look at her and just stared at Claude. “What happened at the board meeting?”
He hadn’t been there when Claude called for the meeting.
Claude put down the newspaper and replied, “The restructuring didn’t pass.”
