ARIEL’S POV
I approached the grand entrance of the mansion with Tessa, and my steps slowed in awe of the towering structure before us. The mansion stood proudly against the night sky, its windows aglow with warm light spilling out onto the intricate stone steps leading up to the entrance. The sound of laughter and music floated through the air, creating an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation.
My heart raced with a mix of nerves and excitement as I adjusted my dress, feeling the soft fabric rustling against my skin. I glanced at Tessa and offered a reassuring smile before we both took a deep breath and stepped inside.
A whirlwind of sights and sounds enveloped me the moment we crossed the threshold. The foyer was a symphony of elegance, with a grand staircase spiraling upwards and its banisters adorned with delicate flowers. Chandeliers hung from the ceiling, casting a warm glow over the marble floors where guests mingled, their laughter filling the air.
Tessa squeezed my hand, her eyes wide with wonder, as we made our way further into the mansion. We passed through rooms adorned with opulent tapestries and exquisite artwork, with the walls lined with mirrors that reflected the flickering candlelight.
I couldn’t help but feel a pang of self–consciousness as I glanced at the other guests; their designer gowns and tailored suits were so superb compared to mine. But Tessa’s reassuring presence by my side gave me the courage to hold my head high and walk with confidence.

We entered the grand ballroom, where a sea of guests swayed to the music that filled the air. The room was a vision of splendor, with crystal chandeliers casting shimmering patterns on the walls and a band playing lively tunes in the corner.
Tessa and I made our way through the crowd, exchanging greetings with familiar faces and offering smiles to strangers. The atmosphere was electric, charged with the promise of a night filled with excitement and possibility.
As we reached the far end of the ballroom, I took in the sight before me. Moonlight bathed a lush garden, its blooms illuminated by soft lanterns swaying in the gentle breeze from a grand balcony. Tessa tugged at my hand as she led me towards the balcony. We stepped outside, the cool night air a refreshing contrast to the warmth of the ballroom. My breath caught in my throat as I took in the breathtaking view before me–the mansion’s gardens stretching out like a tapestry of color and light.
We stood side by side, gazing out at the beauty that surrounded us. A sense of peace washed over me. At that moment, I knew that this night would be one to remember–a night of laughter, friendship, and endless possibilities.

Tessa’s voice dragged me out of my imagination. I turned to her right away.
“It’s time to go to the party.” She gestured toward the building.
“Oh, I thought I had already…”
I sighed, never mind. “Let’s go then.”
Tessa and I made our way back into the mansion, and I couldn’t shake off the feeling of enchantment that lingered from my daydream. The grandeur of the surroundings seemed to heighten as we walked through
the corridors adorned with intricate decor.
Suddenly, a man approached us with a charming smile, his eyes alight with admiration as he extended his
hand to me.
“Excuse me, but I couldn’t help but notice how stunning you look tonight,” he said, his voice smooth like velvet. “Your presence adds an extra sparkle to this already dazzling event.”
I felt my cheeks flush with a mix of surprise and delight. “Thank you,” I replied, feeling a warmth spread through me at his kind words. “That’s very kind of you to say.”
He nodded gracefully, his gaze lingering for a moment longer before he excused himself to join the throng of guests. Tessa shot me a knowing look, smiling at me.
“See, with that dress on, you look like a goddess,” she told me.
I chuckled at Tessa’s words, feeling a surge of confidence. “Thanks, Tessa. You always know how to boost my spirits.”
She grinned mischievously. “Oh, I’m just stating the obvious. Now, let’s mingle and make the most of this enchanted evening.”
The opulence of the party immediately overwhelmed my senses as Tessa and I stepped into the hall. As I moved through the hall, sampling delicacies from the buffet and sipping champagne, I felt a sense of happiness within me. It was actually nice. There is no doubt about that.
I glanced around at the smiling faces and sparkling eyes of the guests. I couldn’t help but feel grateful to be a part of such an extraordinary evening.
“Ariel, there you are,” my father said, walking closer to me.
“Dad! Anything wrong? “Do we have a problem?”
“Well, it’s time for me to introduce you to Sir Reynold,” he said in a whisper, looking around. “I wonder where he is right now.”
As my father spoke of Sir Reynold, a distinguished figure approached us from across the hall, his presence commanding attention. His posture was regal, and his eyes held a hint of warmth as he drew nearer, although he was an old man. He looked kind of young for his age.
“Ariel, this is Sir Reynold,” my father said, turning to me with a proud smile. “Sir Reynold, may I introduce you to my daughter, Ariel?”
Sir Reynold extended his hand toward me.
