“Well, Mr. Holmes, our screenwriters have put a lot of effort into the script. Since it’s adapted from a web novel, we also invested quite a bit when acquiring it…”
Larry began explaining, finally steering the conversation toward the main agenda. His tone reflected a blend of relief and pretended difficulty.
Gordon’s phone continued to ring incessantly as Nora was bombarding him nonstop.
“Name your price. If it’s reasonable, we can sign the contract with you tomorrow,” Gordon said succinctly.
“We had an offer of five million dollars not too long ago, but based on our assessments, we’re confident it’s worth more…
Larry was fully aware of the caliber of Gordon’s status and naturally aimed to pitch a higher starting price.
“How about 5.5 million dollars, then? If that’s acceptable, you can come to Holmes Group tomorrow to seal the deal. I need to handle something immediately
so I’ll leave my wife here to offer you company.”
Urged by whatever message he received, Gordon quickly made his offer and exited the room hastily.

I had thought Nora wouldn’t mean much to him. Yet, Gordon’s actions repeatedly challenged my understanding of his emotions.
It turned out that even temporary figures like Nora mattered to him, while he had never shown the slightest care for me.
What were men’s hearts made of?
After loving him for so many years, could he really not have felt it at all? In what ways was a woman like Nora superior to me? And what made Sabrina, his supposed ideal, better than me?
Why was it that in Gordon’s heart, they all had a place, but I was destined to be just a passerby?
Watching Gordon’s receding figure, I momentarily zoned out, feeling a touch of sadness.
“Mrs. Holmes, I’m good with the price Mr. Holmes suggested,” Larry remarked, mistaking my silence for waiting for his response.
“Mr. Morton, I’m willing to offer six million for the rights to this drama, not for Holmes Group, but for Radglo Corp. If you agree, we can sign the contract now.”
If love was out of reach, then I’d devote myself to my career.
I brushed aside the momentary sadness, eager to seize this opportunity with Larry.

“Are you referring to Radglo Corp., the machinery company? May I inquire about your connection to Radglo Corp., Mr. Holmes? Larry asked, surprised.

I revealed my identity to Larry as I said, “To be frank, Radglo Corp. is a business owned by my father, and I’m currently working there.
“Holmes Group has many projects. For a drama like this, even if we purchase the rights, there’s a high chance it won’t be produced.
“But Radglo Corp. is genuinely interested in venturing into dramas, and we’re willing to pay 500 thousand dollars more than Holmes Group. It’s up to you to weigh the options.”
Larry seemed doubtful. “But you’re Mrs. Holmes. Whether the purchase is through you or Holmes Group.

“Couples should maintain separate finances, after all. It’s certainly not the same. What do you think, Mr. Morton? Do we have a deal?” I asked with a smile, unwilling to delve deeper.

“That’s not an issue. I came prepared.”
I retrieved two copies of the contract from my bag, ready for this moment.
I knew Gordon better than anyone. His decisiveness and action were top–notch, so competing with him meant beating him at his own game.
Money always talked.
Being a smart man, Larry quickly scanned the contract and found no issues. He signed it on the spot.
I promptly contacted Radglo Corp.’s finance department and arranged for the initial payment of three
million to be transferred directly into Larry’s account.
