Suddenly, the car was filled with Baylor Smith’s “Black Sweater“, a song once dear to me.
I had given Gordon a black sweater back in our college days.
That sweater, meticulously crafted stitch by stitch with my unskilled hands, was accompanied by daydreams of how dashing he would appear in it.
Yet, when I presented the finished sweater to him with reverence, he didn’t even glance at it before tossing it directly into the trash can in front of me.
That was the final product of an entire month’s worth of late nights, countless cyles of knitting and unraveling, then knitting again until it took shape.
By then, he had started to trample on my sincerity, treating me as Inferior until our marriage. He always
acted superior, as if his every action was a grace.
I was truly naive back then.
Now, the song brought no joy, only tears that fell silently.
However, I quickly wiped them away, striving to suppress my emotions. I was determined not to let Gordon witness any sign of my disarray.
The car soon stopped in front of a high–end boutique.
Gordon and I got out and entered the shop, where the staff immediately greeted him warmly but paused
upon seeing me.

Clearly, I wasn’t the usual companion Gordon brought with him.
Despite the awkwardness, I maintained a polite smile as we were escorted to the VIP dressing areal
upstairs.
Gordon settled onto the plush couch with ease, suggesting, “All the dresses here are the latest design.
Pick one out, try it on, and show me.”
Many women might find his manly attitude charming.
Yet, as his wife, this was a new experience for me.
It made me laugh. Perhaps I had been too submissive, and he had forgotten I wasn’t just any woman but came from a family of wealth.
I didn’t need his handouts to afford these clothes.
“Miss, I don’t fancy any of these dresses. Could you please bring the gown I ordered two weeks ago? I want to try it on,” I said, disregarding Gordon’s attitude and speaking directly to the staff.
“Your gown? Could you be Ms. Morgan?” the staff asked in surprise, then quickly regaining composure
“Yes. I ordered a globally limited edition gown here two weeks ago and was told it arrived two days ago. I

think it would be nice to try it on today, with my husband present,” I explained.
There was no need for Gordon to bring me here for a dress,
I had already placed a two–million–dollar deposit to reserve a unique evening gown from this boutique. Made by the world–renowned Palasian designer Fael, it was the only piece of its kind in existence.
The staff probably never expected me to be their mysterious major client.
Hearing me say “my husband“, the staff was even more astonished. She probably thought I was just another woman Gordon brought along, never guessing I was his lawful wife.
“That gown is incredibly valuable. Even losing a single gem would be more than we could afford. It’s surprising yet delightful to know you’re Ms. Morgan,
“We’ve kept your dress in special storage. Let me have someone fetch it immediately.”
The staff member was so humbled at the moment that it was as if she was ready to kneel before me in
service.
I remained standing, my arms crossed and pride preserved, turning my attention to Gordon.
His posture on the couch had shifted completely from his earlier domineering attitude.
Now, supporting his face with his hand, he locked his gaze on me. His eyes were full of rapid changes. The once detached and superior expression on his face visibly darkened, sinking further and further.
