But to my surprise, Gordon paid for my gown.
I hadn’t anticipated that I would get the chance to make such a significant spend with Gordon’s money in this lifetime.
But then again, even without me, he would have splurged on another woman, so why should I worry about
saving his money?
Who knew how much longer I would hold the title of Mrs. Holmes?
After paying, Gordon took me from the boutique.
Once in the car, I suggested, “It’s better to take me to my parents‘ home.”
“Go back to Hovilham Residence with me tonight. Staying at your parents‘ day after day, they might think I’ve mistreated you,” Gordon countered.

was the first time he used such a familial manner, hinting at our marital connection. In the past, he
seemed keen on keeping as much distance between us as possible.
“My parents are waiting for me at home. I’d prefer to stay with them for a while longer.” My resistance
lingered. The thought of returning to our shared residence was unappealing.
After all, a home without love, regardless of its luxury or vastness, felt devoid of warmth.
“I’ve already informed your parents. They aren’t expecting you tonight and have gone to bed by now. It
wouldn’t be right to disturb them.”
I was taken aback by the fact that Gordon had already informed my parents.
Raising my head in astonishment, I noticed he wasn’t looking at me but was focused on the road ahead.
From my angle, his profile was strikingly handsome, with a defined jawline adding to his allure.
Goodness. Such a man’s presence could unsettle any woman, couldn’t it?
Even with my emotions dulled, I couldn’t deny my attraction to his physical appearance.
My current tranquility was more about the barriers within my heart that I couldn’t easily overcome.
During our conversation, Luke had driven us into Hovilham Residence’s underground parking.
Together, Gordon and I took the elevator up to our home.
Upon entering, Bailey immediately greeted us, “Mr. Gordon, Ms. Taylor, you’ve returned at the perfect time.
“Mrs. Holmes made a pot of wild mushroom chicken soup today, especially for you both. It’s still warm. Perhaps I could serve you each a bowl as supper.”
Bailey’s joy was evident at my return with Gordon. His voice brimmed with enthusiasm.
“I’m not hungry. I’ll go take a shower first.” I promptly declined, aware of Hazel’s potential motives behind

“I’m actually a bit hungry. Bring me a bowl.”
Unexpectedly, Gordon, who never had a habit of eating supper, claimed he was hungry.
Bailey immediately scampered off to fetch the soup for Gordon.
I proceeded upstairs first. After a refreshing shower and removing my makeup to settle in for the night, Gordon entered the bedroom, his cheeks rosily flushed.
It seemed the soup was indeed very nourishing.
“Why are you here? Do you want me to sleep in the guest room?” I asked, somewhat surprised.
He responded with a smile which was now a more common occurrence.
He removed my face mask and tossed it into the bin before encircling my waist with his arms.
“It’s not appropriate for a married couple to sleep apart. How about we share the bed tonight?”
His eyes held a touch of infatuation. His face was slightly flushed as if he’d been drinking, and his voice was unusually gentle, causing my heart to skip a beat.
