“Nothing happened between me and Hector, so don’t accuse me senselessly,” I said, casually waving my hand.
I preferred to see Gordon angry and concerned rather than feeling upset or angry myself.
The satisfaction of revenge made me particularly happy.
“In the future, stay away from Hector. Don’t forget, you’re married to me!”
He pinched my chin, and his eyes turned red.
“What about you? Can you stay away from those vixens?” I asked coldly.
I stared intently at Gordon’s eyes to gauge his reaction.
“Nonsense!” he spat out the words coldly, with a hint of disdain toward me.
Nonsense? This word also frequently appeared in our conversations in my past life.
Perhaps, regardless of how much I changed, no matter what I became, in his eyes, I was nothing but a woman who constantly caused trouble, not worth bothering about.
I couldn’t help but chuckle bitterly as I pushed his hand
away from my chin.
I stated, “I don’t want to be a troublemaker. How about we just go our separate ways from today onward?
“You can be with any woman you want, and I promise not to interfere. And I’ll do whatever I want, with whomever I want, and you shouldn’t meddle either. Okay?”
Gordon looked at me coldly as if I was telling a joke.
“Does that sound like something a married woman would say? So, you want to have an open marriage with me? I’m sorry, but I’m not that open–minded!”
How could he say such things?
Were his actions also that of a married man?
Did he ever once consider me his wife?
Gordon always behaved as though he were above everyone else, doing whatever he pleased and spreading scandalous rumors with whomever he chose. On the other hand, I had to remain faithful to him until the end.
“If you can’t be open–minded, we might as well get a divorce. I’m serious about this. I hope
you’ll consider it,” I said coldly.
“Are you deliberately trying to provoke me?”
Gordon became agitated, his voice low.
But I no longer feared his anger as I used to. I smiled faintly, not wanting to show any concern before him.
“If you can be devoted to me, I can do the same. But if you can’t, then I can’t either. Loyalty in marriage isn’t a one–sided requirement, right?”
I looked at him, speaking each word deliberately.
However, to my surprise, he suddenly sneered mockingly.
‘Are you talking to me about marital equality now? Do you even qualify?”
His remarks were genuinely hurtful.
Just like before, he treated me as if I was born to submit to him and obey him. No matter how he treated me, I had to accept it.
