“No one did. It happened while I was cooking. I was accidentally burned by the edge
of the pot, and I didn’t rinse it with cold water in time afterward. I didn’t expect it to
be badly inflamed, but I’ve already applied medicine, so there’s no need to worry.”

Sheena’s eyes reddened, carefully recalling the scene she had just witnessed.

“Eli, you know me well. If I don’t get to the bottom of this, I won’t give up. You may not show me now, but you have to be absolutely sure you can keep it hidden, or I’ll
find out sooner or later.”
She softened her tone, reaching for the back of his hand.
“I care about you. Let me see.”
Elliot withdrew his hand, avoiding her touch.
Seeing his resistance, Sheena seized the opportunity while he was distracted and decisively rushed forward, forcibly rolling up his sleeve.
