“Vincent! You were once engaged to Kristin. How can you treat her so heartlessly?” Garner was seething with rage.

Groggy from fever, Kristin shivered at the sound of Vincent’s voice.

She had no strength to fight back.
“I won’t stay there,” Kristin resisted the idea of not living with the FitzGerald family.
“Heard you’re job hunting? That little bastard of yours can’t get into kindergarten, can he?” Vincent glanced at Kristin.

“Take good care of Ruby, and I’ll pay you a salary of ten grand. If you do well, I might help sort out the schooling issue for your little bastard,” Vincent said, frowning.
He felt a tad guilty about the night before, and this was his way of making amends.
Ten thousand dollars was nothing to Vincent, and so was helping with the kid’s schooling.

Clutching his fists in frustration, Vincent stormed into his study.

Vincent felt suffocated. With Rhett breathing down his neck, he thought he had to tread on eggshells.
In a fit of irritation, he knocked everything off his desk.

Rhett was like an untouchable deity in the FitzGerald family, seemingly flawless, enshrined on a pedestal.
