With a cold smile, Colton signaled to the bodyguards behind him. Immediately, the four bodyguards stepped forward, securing the entrance of the ward firmly.
Cynthia was dumbfounded.
“They will be responsible for protecting the children during this period. I’ll wait for you to discuss with me about the rest.” Colton gave Cynthia a meaningful look, then turned and left.
Cynthia gritted her teeth tightly.
She understood what Colton meant. He wouldn’t tolerate her casually having his children, let alone her deception toward him.
She wasn’t worried if Colton was only contesting her for custody, but she would not let him take the children away.
Meanwhile, Elsa was also having a tough time.
Once the post–abortion recovery period ended and the prior public sentiment had also calmed down, she discreetly directed her manager to begin gauging the situation.
However, even though she held the title of Mrs. Zeller, not many people handed her scripts and her resources suffered a disastrous decline.
“Didn’t you tell them that I am Colton’s fiancée?”
Having been rejected by a renowned director, Elsa couldn’t help but hurl a vase in frustration.
The manager shrank back slightly. “I’ve mentioned it, but they hinted that they want you to bring in investment to the team…”
The color drained from Elsa’s face, and her expression grew increasingly grim. When she had first won the Best Actress award, people had chased after her, begging her to star in their. productions. Now, however, a minor public opinion storm had sent them all scurrying away, revealing them for the spineless, creatures they truly were.
She was just about to continue/her tirade when she suddenly heard a comm. After casting a swift glance at her manager, she quickly moved to the door.

“Colt, you’re back!” Elsa exclaimed with a smile, leaning in for an embrace. However, Colton subtly avoided her advance. “You seem to be in high spirits today.”

A sense of heaviness settled in the manager’s heart. She opened her mouth, ready to explain, but the fierce glare from Elsa stopped her. She had no choice but to lower her head in resignation.
Colton glanced at Elsa. “Just make sure it’s all cleaned up.”
He was about to ascend the stairs when Elsa hurriedly stopped him. “Colt, I’ve recently taken a liking to a new project. I believe it has great potential to be successful, but I lack the funds to invest. Could you-”
“How much do you need?”
A smile spread across Elsa’s face as she extended her fingers, forming a peace sign. “Twenty million.”
Colton gave a noncommittal hum and wrote her a check on the spot. “Here, take it.”
Elsa was stunned. She had thought that she would have to spend a considerable amount of time persuading him, but to her surprise, Colton agreed so quickly.
As she held the thin check in her hand, countless thoughts flashed through her mind. Finally, she made a call. “Mom, I don’t want Cynthia and Colton to reconcile! If you succeed, I’ll give you two million.”
Soon, the cheerful laughter of Agnes echoed through the phone receiver. After responding with a few noncommittal hums, Elsa hung up the call.

Cynthia was oblivious to the fact that she had already caught the attention of Elsa. She glanced at the burly bodyguards, clad in black and sporting dark sunglasses, standing at the entrance, her lips twitching slightly.
“Mommy?” Lukas and Luna had already woken up by then. They immediately broke into a wide smile.
Cynthia stepped forward, her heart heavy with concern, and gently patted their heads. “Are you feeling unwell anywhere? Are you scared?”
Contrary to her expectations, the two children who were supposed to be in tears were instead shaking their heads. “Nope! We didn’t cry in the warehouse because we knew that you would find us and rescue us in no time!”
