“Of course there’s a difference,” Noah replied, his smile deepening as he recalled lines from the internet.” If it’s my superior asking, then my plans after work are personal matters, and I have nothing to disclose. But if it’s my fiancee asking, then I should be honest.”
“You’re getting more and more cheeky lately. Where did you learn these tricks? You’re becoming quite the rogue,” Hannah mocked, though her face betrayed no sign of disapproval.
Ignoring her comment, Noah pressed on.
“So, is it my superior asking or my fiancee asking?”
She replied solemnly, “We’re in the office right now, and until you’re given permission to leave early, you’re still my assistant, so it’s a superior–subordinate relationship. But when the superior asks a question, honesty is the best policy, don’t you think?”
A hint of disappointment flashed across Noah’s face.
He straightened up and replied earnestly, “I disagree. My private life after work isn’t something I should have to disclose to my superior.”
Hannah was left speechless as she watched Noah turn and head toward the CEO’s office door.
“Stop. Right. There.”
Noah halted but did not turn around.
Though they were engaged, Hannah had never affectionately called him by a pet name privately, always
referring to him as Mr. Noah, and their dates felt somewhat distant.
“Even if it’s your private matter, you’re requesting to leave early. You should still inform yours where you’re headed.”
Noah replied, “I’m going on a date with a woman.”

He did not say it was with her, so who was he planning to meet?

Hannah was stunned.

“How did you know it’s my birthday? Did my mom tell you?”
Noah admitted, “Auntie Vanessa really likes me and has been trying to set us up. Plus, you remembered my birthday and phone number when you were pursuing me. It’s my turn to remember yours now.”
Once again, Hannah felt a flutter in her heart.
She could not deny that Noah, with his increasingly charming ways and cold yet handsome face, was utterly irresistible.
Before she could respond, Noah took the initiative to shut down her computer.
“I already discussed it with Auntie Vanessa last night. We’re not going back for dinner or staying there
tonight.”
He reached for Hannah’s hand and added, “Let’s go, Hannah. We still have two hours until quitting time. Let’s catch a movie first.”
Allowing him to pull her up, Hannah only caught the most important part of his words.
“We’re not going back? What do you mean?”
Noah did not answer, silently helping her pack her bag.
Hannah looked at his stoic face in horror. “Are you… planning to bring me… to a hotel?”
Noah did not argue. “We’re both adults, and we’re engaged. What else could a date entail besides having fun, eating, and sleeping? Is there another agenda?”
Hannah was speechless.
Noah’s blunt words, especially to a girl, might make one think he was a pervert if they did not know his personality and character.
