By the time the two girls arrived, Elliot and Nathaniel had been waiting outside the restaurant for quite
some time.
Both men were tall and handsome, standing at the restaurant’s entrance like gatekeepers, and they were. a striking sight that was hard to ignore even from afar.

As she spoke, she walked up beside Elliot with Phoebe.
Phoebe instinctively took a step back, standing in line with Nathaniel.
Elliot took his wife’s hand and jokingly teased, “Since it’s a thank–you dinner, why didn’t you wear the watch I bought for you? Don’t you like the gift I gave you?”
Nathaniel glanced at the watch on his wrist, which had slight scratches.
“Mr. Jenkins, your gift is too precious, and I’m afraid of damaging it. So, I keep it safe at home. As for this.

He inspected the minor scratches on his wristwatch and continued, “I used to be obsessed with
cleanliness, thinking that I wouldn’t like something used. But now I realize I’m sentimental. All those
obsessions were just because I hadn’t met the person who could change me.”
Elliot furrowed his brows, his expression turning slightly cold.
Others might not understand, but he felt there was more to Nathaniel’s words than met the eye.
The atmosphere at the entrance became somewhat unusual due to Elliot’s change in mood.
Sheena broke the awkward silence and said, “Alright, let’s not stand outside. Phoebe and I have been busy all afternoon and are hungry. Let’s go inside and order some food.”
The four of them quickly entered a private dining room.
Naturally, the seating arrangement was Sheena and Elliot sat side by side while Nathaniel and Phoebe sat together.
This was a fancy barbecue restaurant where servers brought carefully selected meats and vegetables to the table.

“Step aside, I’ll handle this,” Elliot stated confidently.
He did not think the staff here would grill the meat to his liking.
As Elliot started grilling. Nathaniel engaged in small talk with Sheena from across the table.
“Nana, you’ve been a fan of barbecue since you were young. It’s surprising that your taste hasn’t changed much. ! recall taking you to the grasslands for horse racing when you were little. When we got hungry, we’d cook on the grasslands, and you loved the lamb I grilled.”
Sheena glanced at Elliot’s expression before preparing to respond.
Before she could speak, Elliot interjected.
“Even if your grilled lamb was delicious, that’s all in the past. Nana has never been one to dwell on sentimentality. She prefers to seize the present and look to the future. They always say the way to someone’s heart is through their stomach. Nana loves the food I cook now, and only mine. Mr. Nicholls, don’t you agree?”
Nathaniel’s blue eyes showed a hint of bitterness as he lowered his head in silence.
Sheena was very pleased with Elliot’s words and spoke in a coquettish tone, “After all, I taught Eli how to cook, so his cooking holds a deeper meaning for me.”
As Nathaniel watched the loving gaze between the two, he emptied his glass of wine.
He smiled wistfully and offered his blessings, “Nana chose you, and I hope she’ll always be happy. Mr. Jenkins, you must protect her. However, even if one day you can’t, as the godfather of Asher and Adora, I’ll always stand behind you three, ensuring your well–being.”
Hearing that, Elliot suddenly stopped grilling.
